A few weeks ago I met my nutritionist for coffee and a discussion on how my eating habits were and how I felt about how things were going. Little did I know that meeting her for coffee that day would open my eyes to so much more.

How many of us feel so overwhelmed that we just kinda give up? Not do anything because we have so much to do? I realized while talking to her that I have way to much on my plate. I had dreams that I was juggling but never doing anything about. I was WAY to busy at work, I was taking on too much thinking I could handle it all. I had actually mentally – checked out. We tend to do that with Hypothyroidism. But not to this extent. I, for a long time, thought that my Thyroid disorder was causing this problem.

Here’s the breakdown of all the stuff I was trying to juggle:

At Home:

I wanted my pond set up

I wanted my laundry to do itself

I wanted my house to clean itself

I wanted to replant the front garden

I wanted to place a rubber mulch on all my gardens

I wanted to get all my old plants to the dump

I wanted to get the garage completely clean of clutter

I wanted to blog for all of you

Record a Podcast for all of you

I wanted to blog for my adoption site

I wanted to adopt a child, like, right.now

At Work:

I was over the top busy. We added more directors to my daily work and after about 2 weeks I realized it was too late to get help ASAP. So we spent last week looking for another Temporary Administrative Professional to assist me. In terms of my daily working life this is HUGE. I can’t wait. She starts on Thursday. While I understand their will be a busy time up front – I will no longer have to worry about long term help. I have it now. I can breathe at work. While “in the moment” I never realized I can’t take on extra work. I move stuff around so I can do it. I make stuff fit – but the past few weeks have been tough. I have forgotten things, missed things and generally been crabby and stressed out. Not anymore – I am giddy with excitement.

Outside work and home:

I am part of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. I am Treasurer-elect of my Chapter. Next year I will assume the Treasurer position within the Chapter. I will be maintaining the finances of the chapter. This is a big deal for me a good learning opportunity. Yet another stress. It’s another thing I have to do.

I am part of a great Book Club – I consider this my night out. Most of my time is spent at work or working out. No way I was giving this up.

So, as you can see, I was a pretty stressed out chicky. Not only that from January to May I was studying to take my Administrative Professionals Exam. I had too much stuff to do so the easiest way was to shut down and do nothing. Like a “safe mode”.

My relief came Thursday AM when we hired someone to help at work. At least that was the start, I immediately felt calm. The rest came this weekend. My nutritionist reads my blog – so I hope she understands. :-)

I completely stepped outside myself this past weekend and got out of my own way! When doing that I was freed to complete some tasks around the house.

The bedroom: We always wanted to add more storage to our bedroom. Our closet was big – but not the best layout. So, we added the shelves along one wall. This gave me more room in the closet and made our bedroom feel more put together. YES I know this wasn’t on my list above – but I have been thinking about redoing the closet for a really long time. Due to the cost of redoing the closet – this is the next best thing. We had hung the hooks you see about 2 months ago. We used to have door hangers on our closet. But we used to fill them up and it would actually take up more room in the bedroom than I liked. This way it’s spread across one wall and actually looks like artwork!

The Garden: I actually hate to weed. My hubby loves it because he can relax and enjoy a audio book while hanging out in the yard. One of my downfalls is I love the look of dirt in a garden. So, you see my problem. This past week I noticed that some Rubber Mulch was on sale at the home improvement store for 5.00 a bag! I picked up 8 bags to put on my garden. Best thing is that its a dark color and looks like dirt! It’s made from recycled tires!

Finally the Pond:

I worked all weekend – but I feel much better. I got out of my own way and just got it done. There are smaller things I still need to do with each of them. But they are more manageable than trying to do the whole thing at once.

However, I had to drop recording my food and a few other things this weekend. This is where I ask my nutritionist for understanding! I had to stop thinking and start doing. It paid off. Now I need to plan accordingly and not put to much on my plate.

Now, I can concentrate on all things health and gym!

On a side note, when you have a Thyroid disorder it is good to take time to yourself. It is best not to put to much on your plate. It doesn’t help at all. Do as I say and not as I do. ;-)

Whew! What a post!

So for the past few days I have not eaten a lot of sugar! I was asked by my nutritionist to cut it out. The past few days have been challenging, but eye opening.
The feeling of cutting out sugar is amazing! Especially if you have way to much of it in your life. The first and 3rd days were the most difficult so far. Tomorrow will be a test as I am meeting girls for dinner. I am doing well on the no Dr Pepper which used to be a huge crutch for me. I haven’t had it in days! Gotta keep looking forward!

This was me yesterday afternoon after 6 hours of testing! I won’t find out if I passed the CAP (Certified Admin Professional) or the CPS (certified Professional Secretary) until just before the Holiday in December. I am both excited a scared at the same time. There are quite a few good things happening to me right now and I am really excited to share them with you – but I can’t yet. Not until I make sure I pass these exams. My IAAP Chapter has asked me to run for the Treasure Elect this year and will take effect next year. I am excited about this as I don’t know that much about accounting and I think it will be a good opportunity for me to learn about that and more about the IAAP as an organization.

My weight loss has been awful. I have been concentrating on the test since early October and while I tried it was too much for my brain to handle and I had to throw out the worrying about it. Well, with the test behind me I am moving full steam ahead and will continue the plan I had before to update you all on my efforts. Except with a few changes: I won’t update until Friday informing you how well the week went. I am going back to logging my info and will use either Myfitnesspal or the application for Lose it. I will hit the gym twice a day again and drink a lot more water than before.

I will blog a lot more in the upcoming weeks & months as well.

Remember the expression “Don’t bite off more than you can chew”? I think I did just that. I made a promise in my last Podcast that I will monitor my food intake and exercise in order to lose weight and make you very proud of me. Well… I bit off more than I can chew. I am trying to better myself by taking a test early November. The test spans two days and is a huge deal for me. But my thoughts were grandiose in thinking I can study, watch my weight and watch my food intake. I guess I had high hopes. Well, as you can guess, I failed at it. I just have too much stuff going on. Plus this fall my social calendar just picked up towards the end of September and I felt I didn’t have anytime to myself. With the calendar winding down and the test coming to a close (yikes!) I will have more time in November and December to concentrate of my weight loss. I just can’t beat myself up over it. It is really really really a tough thing to do. I hope you all can forgive me. I DO plan on giving you a play by play commentary on my weight loss efforts. It will just have to start in November. Maybe November 7th. I will keep blogging too. I just need to concentrate on taking this test. “I think I can I think I can…”

Have a good night!

BTW- those are my fur-babies paws!

I know, I was bad. I planned on Blogging everyday this week and I failed. I have been so busy with work, working out and socializing that I haven’t gotten to do very much blogging. I promise that going forward I will make more of an effort. Life tends to get in the way.

My social calendar has filled up. I consider it a good thing. But not when you have a 2 day test to study for and working out. I am excited to go do things with people and I think it is very important. It’s just, right now, I wanna be a hermit and get some things done. I came home last night expecting to record a podcast (my weekly one with weight management information) and ended up having to fill out some paperwork that needs to get somewhere soon (that’s a story for another day…). October already is filling with events as well.

Working out this week has been good. I joined a coworker on Monday to attend a kickboxing class which was a ton of fun and I burned 700 calories in an hour. We are going to continue to do that next week and do a cycling class on Wednesday together. I am going to only attend the gym in the morning during the month of October. I am starting to stress a little bit about this test. I need to pass this thing this year. I can retake it in May – but I don’t want to give up. This is really important to me – can you tell?

Due to my busy life I haven’t recorded my foods either. That is not good. I need to try to slow down and take the time to do that. So, this coming month –I am going to slow down, study, and record my food and workouts.

ONE GOOD THING that has happened so far this week is that I have managed to take my vitamins every meal except one. I can tell a huge difference in how I feel! I am going to finish out the week strong and take them during the weekend. It will be a challenge because I typically let this stuff lag during the weekends. I am also going to try to record my foods this also I let lag during the weekends. It’s go big or go home time.

I hope that you all have a good weekend and I will continue to keep you updated on my weight loss progress.

FYI – As of Monday the 20th my weight was 185.2. There I said it. It’s on the internet now.

I want to give a shout out to my good friend. Unearthingem! You can find her blog here: Unearthingem Blog Spot. I couldn’t remember her blog name on my podcast and for that I haz sad. Sorry girlie!

My plan is to embarass myself by posting a picture. Which you will find below. I needed a starting point and a shocker to myself to give me motivation to continue. I got that and then some! YUCK – here it is..

I had a fantastic day at the gym and in terms of my food. I burnt 500 calories in the AM doing weights and riding the bike. Then I went back at night with a friend and did a Kickboxing Jam class and burnt another 700. No way I could eat that many calories in a day so now I have a surplus of calories. I may need those over the weekend though and Wed. we are going out to dinner with friends.

I am doing this to make myself accountable so that I can focus on the task at hand weight loss. And really – to get over myself. I am so worried about my body and the weight gain I needed to put myself out there to try to bust through.

Heading to sleep – I have to get up in the AM.

Here is Babee being over protective on her water bowl.

Why’s there a golf ball you ask? It helps them not to eat so fast. They have to push around the golf ball to get at their food which helps keep them from overeating. Wish I can stick a golf ball in my food. Speaking of food. I have decided to get back on this bandwagon that I seem to kinda fall off of every now and then. I have been doing ok in food recording – but not so much in the types of food I eat. Time to change. Starting tomorrow I will blog almost everyday regarding my workouts and food items. Don’t worry the blogs won’t be boring! I promise!

I have been very busy with glasses for the IAAP CAP exam in early November. I have had a full social calendar and I am done talking to people! LOL! I am looking forward to a “me” filled week with workouts, reading and fake test taking. I am working on having all the laundry washed, dried and put away so that I can focus on those things listed above all week. I hope by Friday I can have a good report.

My new meds seem to be working swimmingly! I have had no problems as a result of dropping them down. I feel better, more awake and more energized! Finally feeling a little normal. This week I am planning on concentrating on taking my vitamins. I have them organized for the week in a weekly planner. Nothing like feeling OLD! I have them separated into 3 daily doses and have reminded myself to have them with a little fat. My hubby is upstairs right now mixing Guacamole for the week. I never liked it before but when my SIL made it one time it was delish! I now have her recipe and plan on making a small batch weekly. I have grilled chicken, mixed veggies for lunch and a Shakeology protein shake for breakfast. It will be my first time trying that too!

Well, I just wanted to touch base and I will be posting a little bit more this week with my weight loss efforts. I plan on kicking my own butt!!

See you soon!

So – I am hurtin’.

I injured my knee the end of May while working. Now – my back is hurting me! I can’t seem to win. I haven’t been to the gym in a long time! I so want to go back. My Rut is getting better though I actually have a plan now and hope to lose around 7.5 lbs by July 11th. At least that is what my new iPhone program tells me. Let’s see if it happens. In about a week I take a flight to New York for a full on Girls weekend. Hubby gets to hang back at home and take care of the Kitteh’s. :-)

I hope that I will be up and running by that time. A sprained knee and a hurt back is sure a bummer.
