Here is Babee being over protective on her water bowl.

Why’s there a golf ball you ask? It helps them not to eat so fast. They have to push around the golf ball to get at their food which helps keep them from overeating. Wish I can stick a golf ball in my food. Speaking of food. I have decided to get back on this bandwagon that I seem to kinda fall off of every now and then. I have been doing ok in food recording – but not so much in the types of food I eat. Time to change. Starting tomorrow I will blog almost everyday regarding my workouts and food items. Don’t worry the blogs won’t be boring! I promise!

I have been very busy with glasses for the IAAP CAP exam in early November. I have had a full social calendar and I am done talking to people! LOL! I am looking forward to a “me” filled week with workouts, reading and fake test taking. I am working on having all the laundry washed, dried and put away so that I can focus on those things listed above all week. I hope by Friday I can have a good report.

My new meds seem to be working swimmingly! I have had no problems as a result of dropping them down. I feel better, more awake and more energized! Finally feeling a little normal. This week I am planning on concentrating on taking my vitamins. I have them organized for the week in a weekly planner. Nothing like feeling OLD! I have them separated into 3 daily doses and have reminded myself to have them with a little fat. My hubby is upstairs right now mixing Guacamole for the week. I never liked it before but when my SIL made it one time it was delish! I now have her recipe and plan on making a small batch weekly. I have grilled chicken, mixed veggies for lunch and a Shakeology protein shake for breakfast. It will be my first time trying that too!

Well, I just wanted to touch base and I will be posting a little bit more this week with my weight loss efforts. I plan on kicking my own butt!!

See you soon!

Sorry for not keeping up on my Food items. I will try to get it all recorded soon and put up. But in the meantime I had a Doctor’s Appt. on Friday AM and got the results of my blood test that were taking in January. Here they are:

Ferritin – 27 ng/ML (Lab range is 10-291)

Even though this is quite low it is better than it’s ever been. So I am going to continue to try to get it to rise. I have added more beef into my diet and am thinking of getting an Iron Skillet to cook it on just to add more Iron to my diet.

Copper – 134 f ug/dL (lab range is 80-155)

I am ok on copper.

Zinc 80f ug/dL (lab range is 60-120)

I am on the low end of Zinc – but Doc gave me the ok. Still going to take the supplement to keep it rising.

Vitamin D 50f ng/mL (lab range is 30-80)

I am on the higher end of vitamin D. We are going to lower the dosage just a bit. But otherwise I am good with D.Last time my D was really low so I have improved at taking this supplement. Now I just need to up the rest. :-)

Pyrroles were in range at 7. Good there!

Now for the shocker!

TSH was 14.94 (Lab range .20-4.50)

This was a total surprise. I can’t remember what I was feeling in Jan. to have my TSH so high! I remember not taking my meds for a few days. That may be the problem – the nurse even made a comment that obviously I needed to support my thyroid! So true. In talking with my Dr. and true form to myself I often neglected to take my 2 dose of my meds throughout the day. Once I would remember it would be close to dinner and after dinner was way to late. I didn’t want to stay up all night. So we are now trying a time-release capsule instead of a twice a day pill. I hope this does the trick and keeps me on track. He also prescribed a liquid Magnesium for me in order so that I can workout. I had been feeling so pain during workouts that would make me want to quit. He felt that this would help. So – I have to take that twice a day. I have also be placed on an elimination diet. He feels I have a food allergy- and this is a good way to test it. So, this weekend was off -script for me in terms of food. I enjoyed myself a little bit in order to prepare for a long two weeks of eliminating foods from my diet. If anyone has any recipes for the elimination diet – throw em at me. I want to try them.

My Time-Release capsules came this weekend and Monday will be the first day of those. I will let you know what my experience is with them.

Thanks for being patient with me and posting this. I apologize it wasn’t sooner.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

First, let me start off by saying that I can appreciate what Oprah has accomplished in the past 24 years. I firmly believe that no one will be able to fill her shoes – ever. Deep down inside I hope no one tries to either.
When Oprah first aired she was informative and interesting to watch. Then the wave took over and soon her show became a product pushing, agenda driven, “this is what I like” show. I never really understood what the huge draw was. She probably never used the products she pushed. It was like watching an infomercial only during broad daylight.
I only really became interested in her about a year or so ago when it came out she is suffering from a thyroid disorder. Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis to be exact, the same thing I suffer from. I was furious with the information she presented to her audience as to how she “cured” her thyroid disorder. She went on vacation to an Island! She ate only products that contained soy! She Relaxed ever day!
Let me break down for you why this doesn’t work-

A. Vacations are good for sightseeing – but not for lessening a Thyroid disorder that’s what meds are for. Armour, Levox, Synthroid etc… I know each of these meds work on everyone differently but you get the idea. That is the one and only way to LESSEN the symptoms you have from a thyroid disorder.
B. Eating soy products might be toxic to thyroid patients. To read more about it go here http://thyroid.about.com/cs/soyinfo/a/soy.htm

C. Relaxation is not going to cure your thyroid disorder. Relaxation for me makes me more lazy and unable to get off the couch to clean the dishes or do laundry.
I know that 25 years seem s to be a good place to call it quits. I get it. But part of me (mainly my thyroid) wonders if it is because Oprah is tired, or maybe she is going back to the Island on a Hashimoto’s Hiatus. If she would have listen to our wonderful community of thyroid patients trying to help her, she may have been on TV for a long time. Personally, I wouldn’t have cared, I think she could have done a wonderful thing and presented Thyroid Disease in its’ entirety and helped many people suffering from this disease.

The one where I leave Dr. Pepper in the dust. Just kidding I haven’t left it completely behind. However, I am not having it as much as I have been in the past. I attribute this to my new formulation of Armour. Made at a local Pharmacy near me. It is a wonderful thing when you are on the right dose of medication and the right formulation. My older Armour came from a big brother type pharmacy that had just reformulated it – that is when it decided not to work for me anymore. I immediately consumed and unusual amount a Dr. Pepper in hopes of getting my energy back. It still didn’t work but now to have this wonderful hometown Armour! I am a happy girl. But kinda sad that I had to break up a good relationship with my Dr. Pepper. Maybe we can moonlight? Maybe not.
