Diet Observations

So, far so good on the Elimination diet – or my variation of the diet. I ate out twice this weekend and did well both times. I ordered off the menu both times and got a Chicken Breast, Steamed Veggies and a side salad with Ranch Dressing. While the dressing isn’t supposed to be on the diet I feel I need a little fat and the dressing fits the bill. Ranch has a low number of carbs so it’s perfect. Another huge milestone for me is that I am doing really really well on my soda intake which is surprising me a little. I think a switch finally went off and I am not craving it as much – or the new time release meds are working. My belly bloat has gone down considerably and I couldn’t be happier. I have noticed a few things:

When you eat a healthy meal – even if it is filling at the time 2 hours later you will be hungry. I need to find a way to combat this. Even if it is sitting down to eat another meal. Although it seems wierd I think this is a huge huge sign that maybe I have finally flipped my metabolism. I am gonna go with this one as my body is telling me to eat and I am not forcing it to.

When you change your eating habits it is funny what you start to crave. I have started to crave Water, Chicken and steamed veggies. Also a good sign! I am going to run with it.

A few days after starting the diet I had wicked heartburn. Nothing would make it go away. I tried tums and everything! I finally broke down and had some crackers – it helped right away but came back again. The heartburn finally subsided after being around for about 5 days. I am equating this to my stomach rebuilding it’s acid reserves in order to break down my food. Which makes me a happy camper as well!

So – all in all the diet is doing wonders. I have a ton of energy and feel more awake than usual. I think for now – I will continue to change the way I eat. I think it can do nothing but good for me.
