Turkey Day 5K
27 Nov
Well, I did it I ran the 5K. I didn’t actually run the whole way but I ran/walked most of it. I would say that I ran about 1.5 miles of it. I ran to the first mile marker walked from there until we hit the river walk I ran most of that until we hit a small hill. I walked rest the rest of the way picking up the pace when we hit the last 1/2 mile stretch and I could see the finish line. It was cold out around 33 degrees. But once I got running it was soo hot! I kept having to take on and off my gloves. Hubby finished the 5K in about 33 minutes while I finished in 47 minutes and some change. BUT a huge thing is that I DID it! I am soo proud of myself!
On the way home we stopped at Perkins and had a good breakfast. I burnt around 700 calories doing the run! I need to get something to eat. Then we ran home and began to prepare for Thanksgiving. Everyone showed up at 4:30 and we ate and ate! Yummy!
overall one of the best days! I am really sore today though. Back is hurting quite a bit!

Congratulations! I used to run when I was a teenager (high school), but fractured my ankle in 7 places before college and now can’t run at all. And partly, I KNOW from my old days that running is 95% mental and I just don’t have the mental anymore. But I admire anyone who can and does run, no matter how long or short a distance. Good for you and keep it up!
Thanks Robin for the support! It was mentally difficult – more than I thought. But I survived. One of the best things I hve done really! I hope one day you may run again. I am hoping to run again. But not till summer it’s just TOO cold here!
