Simple Sugars
14 Jul
So,
I have been really watching my diet and what I put into my mouth. It has been going really good due to 2 pounds dropping off my body. One big revelation is that since I have not had many simple sugars that I notice that when I do have them my body goes into shut down mode and my tummy hurts. It is no longer exciting to get the can/bottle or super large glass of my favorite soda and listen to the seal “pop” or hiss as I open it – the feeling I get now is complete gut rot. yuck! Don’t get me wrong I love the taste or soda and the feeling is gives as it travels to my tummy – that bubbly feeling felt good to me at some point. Now – I can’t remember when it was good. So, I guess it is a good thing. 2 pounds gone and no desire for soda at all. In place of soda I have diluted Tea so it gives me something to drink other than boring water and it is caffeine free.
Most people with Hypothyroid cannot handle carbs or simple sugars. I am currently eating a diet of all Wheat products and whole forms of food. Not a lot of boxed food in my house no way! However, I might need a 2nd job to pay for all the groceries we need.
I had always dragged my feet about starting a diet like this. Partly because I loved soda so much. Now after being without it for almost 2 weeks I can now see what it was doing to my body and how I was really feeling on a day to day basis. I urge anyone that is hypothyroid to try to not drink soda. It will do your body good. Also, I have tried Almond Milk and love it on my all wheat cereal.
